“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

2 Corinthians 9:11

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I were folding laundry and hanging some clothes in our closet. I picked up one of my new favorite, warm jackets and hung it in my colored coded jacket section of my closet.

I know. I know. I’m a little too organized with my clothes.

After putting the jacket away I took a step back and realized I had almost every color you could wear in an array of jacket styles. At that moment the Holy Spirit did a quick check in my heart to see if humility and a grateful spirit existed. Unfortunately, I must confess, I do not always have a spirit of thanks and gratefulness. I can get caught up easily in the daily comparisons and selfishness that’s as sinners we so easily exhibit.

This particular night the Holy Spirit showed me the importance of counting your blessings no matter the circumstance or how small the item. We are to portray a spirit of humility and grace in all scenarios of life. We are to display the characteristics of Christ to others through our actions and mindset.

Friend, I challenge you this week to look for God’s blessings in every moment of your day.

Even when folding and hanging laundry, look for God to surprise your spirit! Look for joy. Look for opportunities to show love. Keep a humble spirit. We can do it! After all, it is the month of “thanks” is it not!?

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.”

Proverbs 11:2
