Some of the most touching mentor stories begin with a simple conversation over a cup of coffee. Before the two women know it, the mentoring relationship has begun. It may seem like people are too busy or don’t really desire face-to-face conversations but, surveys show that is not the case.

The mature person with tons of life experiences is longing to share their stories and add purpose and meaning to their lives just as much as the Millennials desire to have someone care and pour into their lives too!

A mentor is someone further along in her walk with God than you are, who sees your potential and walks with you in becoming the woman God created you to be.

Is your Mentor right in front of you? It’s very important that you welcome the uncomfortable and start the conversation.

START THE CONVERSATION

  • Ask good questions.
  • Be authentic and approachable.
  • Is there someone in your church community you admire and could see yourself having important conversations with on a regular basis?
  • Move forward.
  • Introduce yourself and begin the conversation.

A mentor can inspire you to maintain high standards in every aspect of your life, socially, physically, mentally and spiritually. It is very helpful to have someone care about you and help you see the hidden God-given potential you have been missing.

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” Helen Keller

SEEKING A MENTOR

Seeking a mentor and reaching out to someone can be difficult but is an invaluable part of your life. Mentoring is, at its essence, just doing what Jesus said. “Building each other up.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
