“In everything set them an example by doing what is good.” Titus 2:7

The book of Titus is the third book written by Paul to a younger leader he is mentoring. We will observe how Paul is pouring his love, teaching, and life into Titus and Timothy on a regular basis.

Chapter two of Titus is the theme for my Women Face to Face Mentoring Ministry. It is my heart’s desire to encourage, equip, teach and develop mentors who will make a difference for Christ in this world until He returns.

Day 1: Reread Titus 1:1-5

Verse 2: This is a powerful opening verse that you must not overlook. “We have faith and knowledge, resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.”(NIV)

Verse 5: Titus is instructed to establish order and develop leaders.

When you face a problem, how do you react? Do you ignore it and hope it will go away? Start today by attacking the problems and not avoiding them. Make it a priority to plan and try to overcome the obstacles you are facing with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Day 2: Reread Titus 1:6-15

Verse 6-15: Job descriptions for people in authority in your church.

Verse 8: THEME: …one who loves what is good

Verse 15: “To those who are corrupted, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. Verse 16: “They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.” Ouch! Time to reread and apply to our lives. How are you and God doing?

Day 3: Reread 2:1-10

Verse 1: they must teach sound doctrine

Verse 2: Older men should mentor the younger men

(We desperately need this in our world today)

Verse 3: Older women mentor the younger women….teach what is good.

“It is interesting that of all the ways Paul could have told the women to combat the decadence of their culture, he told them to invest their energies in teaching their younger women to live Christianly in their society.”

Susan Hunt

(How has the church overlooked this command?)

Verse 4-5: Write out the 8 important things listed in these two verses.

Verse 6-10: Write out the 8 important things listed in these verses as well.

Verse 7: In everything set them an example by doing what is good.

Day 4: Reread 2:11-15

Verse 11: The grace of salvation has appeared to ALL men through Jesus Christ.

Verse 12: Say “NO” to ungodliness

Verse 14: “…be eager to do what is good.” We must have a zeal for good works

Day 5: Reread 3:1-7

Verse 1: Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient,

to be ready to do whatever is good.

Verse 5: How do we get saved? “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.”

Verse 7: How does this salvation process happen?

“So that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”

Not because of what we’ve done, but because of what He did on the cross.

Day 6: Reread 3: 8-15

Verse 8: “those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.”

Verse 14:”Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good

The rest of this verse is so powerful I encourage you to not miss the warning.

“in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.”

Have you ever wondered what God’s plan is for your life? Have you ever secretly questioned in your mind, God what is my purpose?

God gives us insight to His plan for our lives and His goodness.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

God wants each of his human creations to be productive and do what is good.

We read, “Do what is good” at least eight times in the book of Titus. God is using Paul to emphasize the importance of each one of us living our lives as Christ did, by doing what is good. It is time for us to wake up and be prayed up as we DO WHAT IS GOOD for the Lord this week and every week.

Be encouraged! God wants to mature you in the faith of Jesus Christ and help you grow in your personal relationship with Him on a daily basis. As you read your Bible and spend time in the Word, God will reveal His plan for your life and you will be prepared and desire to pour into a younger person for the cause of Christ.
