“Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened.” Luke 2:15

Have you ever attended a small downtown Charles Dickens Christmas Street Festival in December? I love to step back in time with all of the vendors, musicians, dancers and characters in costume from the Dickens stories.

There is nothing like the old familiar smell of roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate, and cinnamon-spiced cider to warm the heart.

Before we know it our calendars become packed with family Christmas gatherings, office parties, cookie exchanges, Christmas Eve activities and entertainment. What would happen if we took the time to see with our hearts what Jesus has done by coming back to the little town of Bethlehem on that first Christmas night?

“The whole meaning of Christmas can be summed up in the miracle of Christ’s birth.” Arthur Bryant

We can receive a wonderful blessing when we take time to meditate on the wonder of the tiny baby Jesus. As we learn to give God control of Christmas and our lives we will experience his love and peace as only the Lord and Savior can give.

“The manger is a symbol of what can happen when Jesus Christ resides inside us. The ordinary suddenly becomes extraordinary.” Bill Hybels

“They came in haste and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.” Luke 2:16

Will you join me today and slow down a few minutes?

Breath.

Pray.

Listen.

Then, ask God to help you to go to Bethlehem like the shepherds who were full of joy, expectation and wonder that Blessed Christmas night.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
