Are you desperately looking for hope? Life can be messy. Some of us struggle with physical, mental, financial or emotional hopelessness and wonder where is God? Does God really care?

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust Him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Today, I want to encourage you to begin seeking the God of hope in a real and authentic way. You don’t have to do life alone. God is with you and He desires for you to connect with a godly mentor to come alongside you and do life together.

ENCOURAGEMENT AND HOPE

A mentor gives you words of encouragement and hope. With a mentor, you will receive guidance from a safe person who will share their own God story and their personal experience of the living hope in Christ.

It was so interesting and inspiring to watch the 2016 Summer Olympic athletes and hear their stories of struggle and triumph. Did you know Michael Phelps, the most successful athlete of all time, was struggling with deep depression and suicidal thoughts just two short years ago?

What happened?

MENTORING STORY:

In 2014 Michael Phelps was struggling with his identity and began to participate in the party scene. After his second DUI arrest, he became very depressed. He locked himself in his bedroom for 5 days and didn’t eat, drink or sleep. During this time he says he considered suicide. He thought, “Maybe the world will be better off without me here.”

But, according to Michaels interview Christian PostChristian Post http://bit.ly/2aMCqkU his friend and former NFL player Ray Lewis, stepped into his life and began to pour words of encouragement and hope into him. Ray convinced Michael to enter a Rehab and handed him a book to read by Rick Warren titled, The Purpose-Driven Life. While Michael was in Rehab he began reading the book and discovered God had a plan for his life. He began to have hope. Combined with the Rehab and the book Michael completely recovered and became a new man with direction, hope, and purpose.

Ray Lewis, made a conscience decision to pour hope into Michael and mentor him through the tough times. Ray had to lay a few things down and set his schedule on hold for a few hours and a few desperately needed moments for a friend. In return, a life was saved and hope was reborn.

HELP OTHERS HOLD HOPE HIGH

This example of Ray mentoring Michael is exactly, How to Successfully Mentor and help others Hold Hope High! When we bring hope to others we bring life! Apart from God, this is a very dark and hopeless place to live. With God’s salvation and the help of a mentor, we have hope. Jesus Christ is the only real place for real hope.

“So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.”  1 Thessalonians 5: 9-11(MSG)

Now is a great time to start reaching out to mentor others with encouraging words of hope! It’s our responsibility as followers of Christ to make sure no one is left out or left behind.
