“I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” John 10:9 (NASB)

Doors come in all shapes, colors and sizes. What door are you facing this Christmas? Do you find yourself asking God to answer your prayers and open the door?

In the Nativity Story, Joseph, is desperately running from door to door asking people to open their front door and give them a room for the night. (Luke 2:4-7) He must have been so disappointed when all he had to give his new wife and newborn baby boy was a place in a manger filled with animals and straw.

This wasn’t Joseph’s plan. He may have  been silently asking God, “Why here?”

Can you relate? You may be wrestling with the same question this Christmas, “Why, Lord?” or “Why here?”

Later that night, Joseph, would know the reasons why. Soon he would learn God chose that particular door for him and his new family with a purpose and a plan.

The shepherds were the first visitors who came to visit and worship the newborn child. Mary and Joseph needed to be in a manger to fulfill the Angels message and the Scriptures in the Old Testament. The shepherds were such an important part of God’s story.

The three wisemen came later to worship and give the baby Jesus their gifts. They too, came looking for a baby in a manger under the North Star shining in the night as they had read in the Scriptures.

God in His tender loving character showed Mary and Joseph, He had them exactly where He wanted them. Sleeping in a stable surrounded by straw and animals in the small little town of Bethlehem. Once again, God reveals He has a purpose and plan for everything.

God is in the details of our lives too.

Be encouraged. God knows you by name. God knows where you are right now and He holds your future. God is trustworthy and faithful. He desires to have a personal relationship with you. He desires to spend time with you!

No matter what door you are facing this Christmas remember you are not alone. God longs to be your Savior and walk with you through the doors of opportunity placed in front of you right now. Whether the door is open or shut, God has a plan for your life. The best thing we can do this Christmas and all year long is to daily seek God for wisdom and guidance with each door we face along our path.

This Christmas week as you open and close doors each day, may you be reminded that Jesus said, “I am the door.”

Revelation 3:8

“I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.” (NLT)

Revelation 3:20

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”(NLT)

John 10:9

“I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” (NASB)
