Who’s ready to thrive?

Today’s story is set in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate. The blind, lame, and paralyzed individuals surrounded a pool called Bethesda in Aramaic.

Discouraged

This one-man had been an invalid for 38 years. Every time he attempted to enter the water, others pushed ahead of him…thinking stirred waters held healing.

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”                   (John 5:7 NIV)

This person was not thriving, he was discouraged. Then…one day…Jesus appeared. He heard the words, “Do you want to get well?”

Empowering

Funny thing is…this does not only have to be this man’s story. Whatever is prohibiting us from thriving, prevents the extraordinary and excellence from happening in our lives, empowering us to thrive. When’s the last conversation we’ve had with Jesus?

The key to thriving is knowing God’s Word.

When I was younger, in the stage many of you are now…I wanted God to align with my ideology. During this time aggravation trumped, I felt God did not understand. A true revelation is aligning ourselves with God’s ideology, studying His Word, gaining power with every verse understood. Then we know contrary thoughts to God’s Word has to be taken captive. We are held responsible for every careless word. When we are weak, God makes us strong. All of God’s Words are important to daily life, helping us understand current events.

Thriving

In order to thrive, we take captive thoughts taking a dive. When discouragement alters our attitudes, thoughts of thriving are lost in the spiral down. We’ve all been here, maybe not as extreme as an invalid. However, fear causes more paralyzation than we think possible. Fear lacks respect and is rude to come in uninvited. It’s like a wrench thrown in to stop all good from happening. Good thing this invalid responded to Jesus. In the process, after 38 years, he received his healing. Where are you in the process of life? Have Jesus by your side and be ready to thrive!
