Have you ever wondered if time alone with God actually makes a difference?  Many people ask me good questions about faith.  It’s okay to ask questions. In fact, the Bible is filled with people who ask questions.  God is okay with hard questions about faith, small questions about faith, and everything in between.

“Seek the LORD while He may be found.” Isaiah 55:6

What Are Some Questions About Faith?

Genuinely, I receive questions about how to grow in faith, get unstuck in faith, and more all the time.  Good questions about faith, like these:

  • What makes you so full of joy and energy?
  • How do you maintain your passion for your faith?
  • What are the effects of faith in our lives?
  • Why do we need faith?
  • Is faith real

I could answer those questions with loaded explanations and stories of how God is working and moving on a daily basis in my life but the bottom line is this, every day I spend time reading the Word of God and praying.

Hard questions about faith can usually be answered through those two things.

Questions About Faith and Doubt

I consistently share my answer about how I face these tough faith questions.  Then I usually receive one of the following four responses from someone:

  • Oh, I wish I was more disciplined in my time with God but I just can’t get it together. I guess I’m a little too busy.
  • I’m glad that works for you but I just don’t get anything out of reading the Bible. It doesn’t seem relevant or applicable to my life.
  • I don’t like to read so that won’t work for me.
  • I read the Bible and I pray too, but I don’t get as passionate or jazzed as you do. Help.

These are some great discussion questions about faith.  When a person brings their honesty to the Lord, He draws nearer to them.  When God draws nearer to us, our questions are answered in supernatural ways.

Answering Questions About Faith in God

We are going to be very honest for a moment.  This is just you and me, chatting over coffee, digging deeply into your deep questions about Christianity.  The goal is not judgment.  My deepest desire is to help you move forward toward God’s direction for your life.

Do you think the Bible is boring?

Does it feel irrelevant?

Do you wonder if the Scriptures are true?

If you are wondering the same questions, you are not alone. Many people are thinking the same thing. Why?

Christian’s Have a Real Enemy

God’s enemy the devil is alive and active and doesn’t want you or anyone else to read the Bible or seeking God. That’s right, God has an enemy which means you have an enemy.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 NASB

Why is it so hard to get into God’s Word?

The Enemy’s Strategy

You need to know that the enemy has a plan and is persistent.  There are a few goals that He seems to go back to again and again.

The only way to really know God is to read His Word and begin to understand His love for you. Therefore, the devil will do everything he can to distract you, deceive you and destroy you so you will not get to know God.

Make a note of those three goals.

  1. Distract
  2. Deceive
  3. Destroy

Also, the devil knows that the moment you begin to read the Word of God and get to know Him.  The more you know God and His love for you, the enemy will begin to lose you to heaven and God’s ways.

“For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NASB

Moving Past Hard Questions About Faith

When you are wrestling with hard faith questions, and deep questions about Christianity the way through is to focus on the truths you know.  Shifting from focusing only on the questions to focusing on the truths you know will help you find the real answers.

Here is the truth I am a witness to:

  1. God’s Word is True
  2. Jesus Christ is Truth
  3. God’s Word Will Change Your Life

God’s Word is True

Every word in Scripture is true.  Anytime you begin to question faith and God and all the hard things about life it is critical to come back to this basic truth of our faith.

“For the word of the Lord is right,
And all His work is done in faithfulness.
He loves righteousness and justice;
The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.” Psalm 33:4-5 NASB

Not just some of the words in the Bible, but every single word is true.  The fact that there are hard questions in the Bible and crazy characters can help us know for certain it is true.  If it were made up the author would have scrubbed some things.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16 NASB

Jesus Christ is Truth

Believing the Bible is true leads to the next truth to help us work through the hard questions.  Jesus Christ is truth.  He came, He lived a sinless life and He alone is the way to eternity with God.  Truth.

“Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 NASB

God’s Word Will Change Your Life

We believe that the Bible is true and that Jesus is truth, but that alone is not enough.  Even the devil believes.  What makes us different?  Believing The Bible can change your life and then allowing it to do just that.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB

How To Get Unstuck in Your Faith

Good questions about your faith are absolutely fine and can help.  The problem is, they can also cause us to get stuck in our faith walk.  How do you move forward?  How do you find God’s direction for your life and start moving toward it?

  • Commit to reading your Bible

Commit to Read Your Bible

People today just can’t see themselves reading the Bible.  Many are afraid of becoming one of “those kinds of Christians”. The good news is you don’t have to stay there. You can change your thinking today and I am praying you will.

How can you change this mindset?

  • Be honest with yourself and with God.
  • Take a moment and pray to God.
    • Tell Him how you feel about life and then ask Him to change things.
    • Ask Him to be your Lord and Savior.
    • Ask Him to bring the Scriptures alive and fresh to your mind and heart as you read them.

I have learned from experience if you ask with a true and honest heart, God’s Word will impact your life.

“So will My word be which goes out of My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 NASB

Get Unstuck?

May I suggest you start by reading 4 pages from the Old Testament and 4 pages from the New Testament?  Add one Psalm and one Proverb to the list and you will receive insight and wisdom for your day.

The Bible has all the answers you need. If you are searching for a good study Bible I recommend the Life Application Study Bible NIV*.

“Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore. Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life begins!” 2 Corinthians 5: 16-17 (MSG)
