Do you know Jesus as your personal Savior? Have you ever invited Him into your heart and life?

Pause. Pray. Take a few minutes and talk to Jesus. Tell him what is on your mind. Ask Him the really hard questions and invite him into your life. Let’s learn how to do life with Jesus walking right beside us and read his Word each day. As you read God’s Word you will be amazed how there is power in the Scriptures.

Hebrews 4:12 “ For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (AMP)

How Can You Be More Consistent with Your Quiet Time?

Keep your Quiet time steady and simple and ask the Lord to bless your time with Him.

  • Set a specific time of day. Set your alarm.

Suggestion: Start your day each morning with God.

 Psalm 5:3, Psalm 143:8, Lamentations 3:22-23, Isaiah 50:4-5

  • Select a specific place to meet with God. Set your timer to keep you focused.

Suggestion: Begin small and grow in small steps. Start with a SEVEN-minute plan.

  • Plan ahead and be prepared. Have a list of what you will read each day and specific people and prayer needs to cover.

Suggestion: Begin with one Psalm and/or Proverb. Move into a Full book in the Bible.

Begin with Genesis in the Old Testament and read one chapter each day.

Or, select one of the four Gospels and read through the entire book.

Let’s pray for the Holy Spirit to help us to have a more consistent quiet time with God.

Holy Spirit, forgive me for not including You in my prayer life. It’s strange, but I didn’t realize I was ignoring You. But today is a new day. Help me. Remind me. Transform me. I give my schedule and agenda for each day. Have your way, Lord. Forgive my confusion about my purpose. I am constantly fighting my negative thoughts and doubts. Keep me close to Your heart and help me believe the promises of God are true. When the enemy tells me I’m alone and unloved, shout loudly into my heart the truth of Scripture. Remind me to meet with You every morning on a consistent basis. Reveal to me God loves, and how I am not alone. Thank You for living inside of my soul and giving me the comfort I need. Help me be more consistent with my quiet time in the name of Jesus. Amen!

  • Quiet time…

I struggled with this for many years, I felt cold and distracted always. But, I am more intentional now, and I can see changes.

What you aren’t devoted to, you can’t get used to it. I realized discipline is a virtue every Christian should possess. Quiet time requires discipline, always.

    Thanks for sharing

Thanks, Kudabo for your honesty in your comments. I’m so glad you are intentional with your quiet time with the Lord. I’ve always found my encouragement and inspiration in God’s Word as I start my day. Be blessed!

      • I am realising more and more the importance of being intentional in spending time with God. Without discipline, every good intention flies out the window in a matter of days. Thank you for the great pointers.

        • Jayme Hull says:

Thanks, Evangeline. All of us need guidance and accountability when it comes to the discipline of meeting regularly with God. I’m so grateful God is patient with us. His mercies are new every morning. Be blessed.

  • I’ve been pondering this very thing. First, I’m changing my bad habits of staying up all night and getting less than 4 hours of sleep. Second, I joined two small group Bible focus groups through zoom. Please pray as the “memory” of one of the meetings keeps me from being faithful. Spiritual warfare is intense when we pursue the Lord.

    • Jayme Hull says:

Patricia, thank you for your gut-honesty. I too have had the bad habits of staying up late at night but God and I are working on this problem. Thank goodness, we are all still under construction. There is always room for change and growth. Praise the Lord we serve a patient and loving God. I want to pray for you as you pursue the Lord. Always be encouraged by the truth in 1 John 4:4 “You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”

Dear Lord, Today I’m lifting up my sister in Christ, Patricia. Bless her with Your presence and Your love. Help her to stay on track with her quiet time and Bible study each and every day. Speak into her heart and reassure her with your eternal encouragement and confidence. She is determined to give you all the Glory and praise with each and every victorious day. In your name, we pray, Amen!

    • Since this whole COVID thing happened, I have had much more time with God. Before, I was reading one chapter a day. Now, I am reading three chapters, and doing several readings. I read an article a day out of my Life in the Spirit magazines, I read a devotional, and then I confess scriptures over my life. After this, I write in a prayer journal. Then, I like to just sit there in His presence. Usually, this all takes about an hour. I do this all right after I get up so I can start my day off right. I have noticed many blessings in my life since starting this routine. Especially after I made a prayer closet to do this all in. God really loves it when we devote time to Him. It is a blessing to Him.

      • Jayme Hull says:

  • I think I am just a sucker for acronyms, and the P.A.S.S.I.O.N one isn’t any different! I love these tips and reminders and suggestions of how to be consistent in quiet time, and I also really appreciate you mention how sharing our story will bless others! It is so refreshing to see other like-minded women calling us back to our first love, Jesus!

    • Jayme Hull says:

Thank you for sharing, Stephanie. I’m so humbled every time anything I post is helpful and inspiring. While writing this post, I prayed and asked the Lord to give me a Jayme original acronym for this post (LOL) and He and I created P.A.S.S.I.O.N. He is a good God. Please continue to meet with the Lord on a daily basis and ask him to help you share your story with others. I’m certain God has a great plan to use you for the kingdom as you share your story to bless and inspire.

  • I absolutely love the PASSION acronym. I love how you have strategic steps as well. Thank you

  • Teresa says:

The only way I’ve found to have a consistent time with the Lord is be intentional. To set my clock earlier. And to make this commitment to the Lord—No Bible. No breakfast!
    Blessings!

    • Jayme Hull says:

Thanks for your comments, Teresa. I love love love your commitment statement—No Bible. No breakfast! I’ve heard it before and completely forgot. Thanks for the great reminder. Yup! That’s it. No Bible—No breakfast!

  • Collene says:

This is great! I LOVE the passion acronym. I have never seen that before but it seems like a great tool to help in my quiet times with God. Thanks!

    • Jayme Hull says:

Thanks so much, Collene. God and I created the P.A.S.S.I.O.N. acronym together. All the credit and glory is His. Be blessed as you seek the Lord on a regular basis in your special quiet time.

  • Adriane says:

Jayme! I absolutely love all your tips on how to spend quiet time with God…especially the PASSION acronym. I use the ACTS acronym but love the added reminders in the one you use. I thought for years that I just didn’t have it in me to grow closer with God and actually carve out time every single day. On July 1, I started doing a daily reading plan that corresponds with a podcast. I haven’t missed a day. Scheduling the time of day and habit-stacking my time so I don’t even have to think about it has been incredibly helpful. I wake 2-3 hours before my kids, read scripture while I walk, I stop at a rose garden in my neighborhood that has many friendly hummingbirds in the morning, I listen to a Christian guided meditation, pray, then continue my walk home. It’s been life-changing!

    • Jayme Hull says:

Adriane, thanks so much for sharing. What a blessing that you were so encouraged since July to get up hours before your household and listen to Scriptures while you walk. I know your comments are encouraging the readers and giving them the inspiration to keep trying. Listening or reading God’s Word and time in prayer is a powerful way to start our day. What a great testimony to the power of having regular quiet time with God. Thanks again for commenting and sharing your God story. Be blessed.

  • Elizabeth says:

I love the 7 minutes 7 days with God. I was just praying to God about me needing to spend more time in prayer. Thanks for sharing

    • Jayme Hull says:

I’m so glad this post was encouraging for your, Elizabeth. All we need to do is take small steps moving forward and God will gladly meet us there and help us continue to grow. Be blessed as you spend more time with your Redeemer and Savior. Be Blessed.

  • Alice says:

Thank you for the reminder about a quiet time with the Lord. I don’t usually watch videos as I’m hearing impaired, not deaf, but I don’t understand what is being said unless there is closed captioning. So thanks for the written part.

    • Jayme Hull says:

Alice, I’m so thankful God used the written part of the post to minister to your heart. I’d like to add Closed caption options to my Vlog’s but will need to do research on the tech side of things. Thank you for taking the time to write a comment and passing on your encouraging words. Be blessed!

  • Donna Miller says:

I love this Jayme! Especially how you used the word “Passion” as an acronym to help us remember what’s important. This is such an amazing and beautiful post. Thank you so much sweet sister …
